A preliminary report on critical antimicrobial resistance in Escherichia coli, Enterococcus faecalis, and Enterococcus faecium strains isolated from healthy dogs in Chile during 2021-2022
This research aimed to estimate the prevalence of Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) in commensal bacteria like E. coli and Enterococcus spp. from healthy pet dogs in Chile. Results showed significant differences in AMR prevalence based on geographical distribution, indicating various risk factors and the need for specific mitigation measures. The study highlights the importance of understanding the role of companion animals in spreading AMR and addressing its impact on global public health.
